'Spiderman' in court

112905_robert.jpgAlain Robert, the French "Spiderman" who was arrested last week when he started to climb up the side of One Houston Center, told a judge today that he's had enough of Texas justice.

Robert appeared in Harris County court to answer to trespassing and drug charges. Police had been tipped off to Robert's plan to climb the 46-story building before he arrived, so they didn't have much trouble stopping him — and later, a report said police believed Robert had Xanax in his possession when he started his climb.

As it turns out, Robert said the drug was Urbanyl, which is used to prevent epileptic seizures:

His attorney, Gerardo "Gary" Montalvo, said he provided the court proof of the prescription today, along with a letter from Robert's doctor.

"He's actually really hurt over the drug charge, because it's ruined his reputation in France and other countries," Montalvo told reporters outside the courthouse. "This is a prescription medication, and we have a prescription for this."

Though Robert said his night in county jail wasn't too bad, he won't climb in Houston again. "It seems that I'm not welcome here, so I'm going to move forward," he said.

Robert is scheduled to return to court Jan. 4.
