Katy Freeway closures: TxDOT's gift to you!

As we all know, there's no traffic the weekend before Christmas. It's an ideal time, then, for TxDOT to make a bunch of closures on the Katy Freeway! We can hear you rejoicing now. Take a look and plan to avoid the west side:

• The Katy Freeway HOV lane will be closed from 8 p.m. tonight to 5 a.m. Monday.
• The ramps from the West Loop northbound to I-10 east- and westbound will be closed from 10 p.m. tonight to 10 a.m. Saturday and again from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday. Alternate route: Take 610 north, exit 18th Street and U-turn to access I-10.
• An inside lane of the eastbound freeway between Kirkwood and Gessner will be closed from 9 p.m. today to 5 a.m. Monday, and an inside lane eastbound between Gessner and Campbell will be closed from 9 p.m. tonight to 10 a.m. Saturday.
• An inside lane of the westbound freeway between Wilcrest and Kirkwood will be closed from 10 p.m. tonight to 5 a.m. Saturday.
• Alternate lanes of the westbound freeway between Mason Road and Katy-Fort Bend Road will be closed from 7 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.
• Alternate lanes of the westbound freeway between the Grand Parkway and Pin Oak will be closed from 7 p.m. today to 5 a.m. Saturday.
• The inside lane of the eastbound and westbound freeway between the Grand Parkway and Katy-Fort Bend Road will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.
