Imagine: It's the 1980s. You're an arrogant, struggling young singer in the Midwest who has to overcome a rocky home life, a rival clothes horse and the on-again, off-again relationship with another struggling young singer who's being used as a pawn to try to end your career. Of course, you do overcome all that — because you're Prince.
That's right — Purple Rain, everyone's favorite two-hour music video, is back as part of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's '80s Encounters Film Festival. Catch it this weekend and remember Prince at the height of his popularity. We can't think of a better way to revel in the splendor that was the 1980s — until the MFAH comes out with a Brat Pack retrospective, that is.
10 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. Saturday
MFAH Brown Auditorium, 1001 Bissonnet
Tickets: $6 general, $5 for museum members and students
