Katrina evacuees shoot woman's bed

011606_bullet.jpgWe've heard a lot of stories about Katrina evacuees getting into fights with each other — but now it seems they're even attacking inanimate objects, including a west Houston woman's bed.

It happened in the 10900 Block of Briarforest at the Park at Lakeside Apartments.

Police said the bullet was fired from a downstairs unit went through the ceiling, the floor and then pierced the boxspring and mattress — before hitting the ceiling of the woman who lived upstairs.

When investigators went to find those responsible for the criminal mischief, no one answered.

Hold on a second while we marvel at the depth of that investigative work.

Yes, OK, all done. The apartment managers have changed the locks on the apartment that was the source of the bullet, and they've reportedly ordered the Katrina evacuees who lived there off the property. Houstonist knows this story isn't really funny, of course, because the woman could have been in the bed when the bullet came through — but we're blessed with the ability to find humor in all sorts of inappropriate situations. And that's why we can't stop thinking about another case of bullets and inanimate objects.
