Work on the Mosaic, the first new high-rise residential development around Hermann Park, will begin in the next two or three months. Mosaic will include two 28-story towers with 344 apartments, 444 condos, several stories of parking and 22,500 square feet of retail space at ground level — the first section, the apartment tower, is expected to be finished early next year.
The Mosaic looks like a hip high-rise place to to live — its location is handy to a lot of things and should give residents nice views of downtown, the Med Center and the park across the street. But we are sort of turned off by the names of the floor plans, which are a little too precious: the "Mischief?" The "Miracle?" The "Montage?" It's almost embarrassing. Houstonist is glad we'll never be able to afford to live there.
