Wednesday
Been stuck in a quiet office or cubicle all day and need a change of pace? The Fall of Troy may be able to help you with that. The Washington state punk-rock trio plays with At All Cost and Jonbenet.
8 p.m. at Walter’s on Washington | info

Thursday
The touring scene is quiet in Houston today, so why not check out some local acoustic talent. Longtime favorite folk venue Anderson Fair continues their Thursday Songwriter’s Night tradition with Ken Gaines & Wayne Wilkerson, plus other guests.

Friday

Expect an entertaining mix of originals and altered covers, along with satire and an assortment of music genres.
8 p.m. at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck | info

Saturday
Explosions in the Sky’s debut album came out on Sep. 10, 2001, and featured a track called “The Plane Will Crash Tomorrow.” That sadly odd coincidence is behind them now as the art-rock instrumental Austin band (whose songs tend to run around the ten-minute mark) comes to Houston.
9 p.m. at the Engine Room | tickets and info
