Houstonist has long had a theory that, if you drive far enough from downtown Houston, everything starts repeating itself — basically, you drive far enough and find the same things you find inside the Loop, minus the character. There's more evidence of that this week with the news that Taco Milagro, patio central for young inner-Loop professionals, is coming to The Woodlands.
TM's Woodlands location will be a freestanding restaurant at Six Pines Drive and Lake Robbins Drive, near the Woodlands Mall and the fake downtown. And for those of you who love the patio at the Taco Milagro in River Oaks, you'll have a similar place to hang out up north: Lonnie Schiller, CEO of Schiller Del Grande Restaurant Group, told the Houston Business Journal his company scouted The Woodlands for a site "that not only had strong visibility, but also an opportunity for a large, sun-lit patio."
Also in Woodlands restaurant development, the Indianapolis-based Steak 'n' Shake will open its first Houston-area location on College Park Drive this year. Steak 'n' Shake's locations are concentrated in the Midwest and Southeast; all its Texas restaurants are in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Construction on the Woodlands S&S will begin this spring.
