How about a nice Chianti?
Everyone knows about the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Thousands of less than full, but slightly inebriated, gather around picnic tables like Black Angus to get a taste of …slow cooked Black Angus. Yum. What most forget about, as they lean back and unbutton their top buttons, is to save room for the wine.
After the rib bones and napkins have been shoveled, the corks will be popped at Rodeo Uncorked! Grand prize winners of the 3rd Annual Livestock show and Rodeo International Wine Competition will be announced Monday between 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. in the Astrodome. Savor samples of the 1200 selections that entered the contest back in November, as well as finger foods from restaurants around the city. We assume the snacks will not be aged like the wine.
Single tickets remain available for the tasting, but the Champions Auction on March 4th sold out before we could get to the nearby Coinstar.
