Texas gas prices down for 4th straight week

022406_gaspump.jpgGas prices in Texas fell for the fourth week in a row this week, according to AAA Texas. The statewide average for self-serve unleaded gas this week is $2.15 a gallon, down 4 cents from last week. That's 10 cents less than the national average of $2.25 for the week, which is down 2 cents from last week.

The most expensive gas in the state, $2.18 a gallon, is in the Galveston-Texas City area this week (the cheapest, $2.03 a gallon, is in Corpus Christi). HoustonGasPrices.com reports the cheapest gas in the city today is $1.97 at the Citgo station at the North Freeway and Crosstimbers. The highest reported price: $2.39 a gallon at Shell stations at Richmond and Chimney Rock and the Southwest Freeway at Chimney Rock.

AAA Texas expects prices to be stable for the next couple of weeks.
