022806_carjack.jpgToday in stupid, two suspected carjackers were caught this morning after they tried to return the car they stole. It happened at the Waterford Place Apartments at Kempwood and Crestdale in west Houston.

Officials said the two New Orleans evacuees went to a Chevron gas station around 2:30 a.m. and tried to carjack a vehicle, not realizing the victims were their neighbors. Not just neighbors — but the father of a friend.

HPD said once they realized what happened, they went back to the apartment complex and tried to return the car.

Oops! Police saw the guys trying to return the car and started chasing them. According to KPRC, one suspect was caught in an apartment and the other remains at large. [video from KHOU]
