Will Makar, the College Park High School sophomore contending to be the next American Idol, will perform tonight with the other 10 males still in the contest. The show, which airs from 7 to 8:30 p.m., has illuminated 16-year-old Makar in the national spotlight. Classmates, friends and community members were invited to his hometown high school to support him tonight.
CPHS principal Mark Murrell is inviting anyone to join in the festivities.
“We’re not going to turn anybody away. We look at it as a way to pull community together as a whole and center around this amazing young man. We’ll build some community spirit and school spirit as well.”
On last week’s show, Makar crooned the Jackson 5 classic “I Want You Back.” The school’s choir director Beckie Moody said Makar is also influenced by Josh Groban and Michael Buble.
Houstonist thinks Makar looks like a cross between Fred Savage and Adam Brody. Paula Abdul likened him to Bobby Brady. Who do you think Makar looks like?
