Cookie city

031406_cookies.jpgSpeaking of fresh-baked cookies — what, we were, weren't we? — there'll soon be a new place to get 'em downtown. Nestle Toll House Cafe is opening a location at Main and Capitol, on the ground floor of the Great Jones Building. There are already four Nestle cafes in town (two in the Galleria, one at Bush Intercontinental and one on Mason Road), but Houstonist thinks the new location will be an excellent addition to downtown. After all, what could do more to make Houston a world-class city than the smell of chocolate chip cookies wafting through the central business district?

Toll House Cafes offer cookies, cookie cakes, other baked goods (muffins, croissants, etc.), sundaes, shakes, smoothies, ice cream and gourmet coffees. No word on when the downtown cafe will open, but it can't be soon enough, especially in the absence of a particular doughnut franchise.

I noticed it on the Danger Train home the other day.
