Tons of concerts this week. We’re getting sloppy seconds from Austin’s SXSW Festival -- that’s ok, we’ll take ‘em:

Tuesday
Scottish band Mogwai just released their fifth album Mr. Beast. Their website claims it’s a return to “rock with a capital R.” Rock on!

Come watch the transformation of Hank III. Act One: he looks and sounds like his grandpa. Act Two: he looks like Slash and sounds like Pantera.

If that’s not enough for you, there’s also Scott Stapp at Verizon Wireless. Our friends in D.C. give you a great preview.

Wednesday

Man Man was voted Best Show at SXSW last year. When you’re compared to Captain Beefheart and Frank Zappa, would you expect any less?

Thursday
When you hear Scary Kids Scaring Kids play their puck-rock, you’ll swear Dexter Holland from The Offspring is on vocals. He’s not.

Their latest CD is titled Rock & Roll Is Dead, but the Hellacopters are trying their damnest to resurrect 70’s metal. Nebula opens.

Need a break from alternative rock? Check out KEM and Leela James. Great R&B vocalists that will get you set for a romantic weekend.
