Well the 2006 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo may be over, but don't start crying just yet. Another successful showing was made on all fronts with revenues up and attendance down, but the kids, not the vendors, are the real winners. While attendance records were being broken at the rodeo this year, sales were also hitting highs with eight junior market show animals sold for record prices, bringing in nearly $1 million more than last year and adding 11% more to the HLS&R's education fund.
While we are sad to see the rodeo gone we are really looking forward to the 2007 75th Anniversary Celebration. Planning is already underway for the 2007 show with expansion of current exhibits and additions of some new ones. The most notable new exhibt in our opinion is where we will be able to watch a surgical veterinarian operate on the animals including, watch out boys, neutering the animals. Thanks for a great Rodeo 2006 and we look forward to next year!
