Armed robbers score ... a Halloween costume?

032106_postal.jpgIn one of the more bizarre armed robberies lately, at least two men with guns held up a postal worker Monday afternoon — and stole his uniform.

It happened in the 6600 block of Park Lane near South Wayside in Idylwood. According to the Chronicle, the armed men stopped the postal worker at about 1:15 p.m., as he was delivering mail, and ordered him to take off his uniform. They then fled the scene (with his uniform) in a cream-colored Chevrolet pickup. The mail? The postman's ID? Yeah, they left all that.

KTRK reports a neighbor gave the postman a shirt and shorts to wear when he found him standing nearly naked in the middle of the street. We tried to make sense of this, but there's just no way to — we couldn't even think of a connection between this incident and the postal workers who got it on in a mail truck last month. All we can say is, this kind of entertainment almost makes those 39-cent stamps worth the price.
