Local man reels in 10-foot python

032206_python.jpgIt looks like it's wildlife week here at Houstonist, what with the feral hogs and the wandering longhorn — and now there's a 10-foot python. Tom Jones and his sons didn't expect to catch a snake when they went fishing near Savoy Road and Highway 90 in Sugar Land. But they sure did:

"I reached back and felt something tap my elbow. I looked and this was what was behind me," Jones told KPRC Local 2.

The python tapped Jones on the elbow? He should definitely get in touch with David Letterman. Jones said the snake isn't his first big catch: He also caught an 11.5-foot alligator near his home in Louisiana. He told KPRC he plans to keep the python in his garage for a while — wouldn't you? — but he ultimately wants to sell it.
