Movies opening this weekend:

Inside Man: Directed by Spike Lee; starring Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Jodie Foster. Washintgon plays an aggressive detective bent on destroying a bank robber's (Owen) plans to make away with millions, but his efforts are are hindered by a successful broker (Foster). Thrills ensue. Inside Man got great reviews, according to Rotten Tomatoes, and Amy Biancolli called it, "an enjoyable jumble of heist film."

Stay Alive: Directed by William Bell; starring Samaire Armstrong, Sophia Bush, Adam Goldberg. Don't head to the theater with high expectations about this one. It is basically about a bunch of teenagers who want to rescue each other from certain, gory death by playing a video game. (note: that excuse probably won't ever work on your parents). As one IMDB commenter wrote, "the movie is so dumb (sic) down its (sic) unbearable."

Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector: Directed by Trent Cooper; starring Larry the Cable Guy (although it doesn't take a lot of investigating to discover his real name is Dan Whitney). Houstonist has to admit we cringe every time an advertisement for this movie comes on television, but we were still interested to see what reviewers had to say. Unfortunately for us, the movie was apparently so bad that only six film critics braved the 89 minutes it took to see it, as there were only six reviews on Rotten Tomatoes when we posted this. Out of those, only one--E! Online--gave it a good review, saying it "keeps you giggling, even though you know you shouldn't." A valid opinion, but don't forget: these are the people responsible for Taradise.
