In case you’re still wondering, Death Cab For Cutie got their name from a 1967 song peformed by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. The once indie-popsters will share the stage with Franz Fernindand. Not a bad two-for-one.

Friday
J Mascis has revived Dinosaur Jr., who was a staple on college radio in the late 80’s through the mid-90s with “Start Choppin’” and “Feel the Pain,” among others. Original member Lou Barlow rejoins the line-up.

Saturday
Student-sponsored Frontier Fiesta begins at the University of Houston on Thursday with Jimmy Gonzalez y Grupo Mazz, with Dem Franchize Boyz performing the following night. The headline acts for Saturday’s festival include Texas country favorites Randy Rogers Band and Reckless Kelly. When we saw the event’s logo, we got excited thinking the Foo Fighters were performing. Wrong.

Wikipedia describes the Asylum Street Spankers' music as swing, jazz and dirty blues. Houstonist has caught them live a few times, and if they play some of our favorites (“Beer” and “The Pussycat Song,” for example), you'll be spankin' happy.
