Suspects caught in ceiling of liquor store

032906_liquorstore.jpgSuppose you want to rob a liquor store, but you don't think you can do it the traditional way — you know, smashing a window and grabbing all the bottles you can. So you sit around and think, and finally you come up with the perfect way to do the deed: You'll knock a hole in the roof and enter the store through the ceiling. Sure, it's a great idea. Until you get stuck.

Officers said the burglar alarm inside the King Liquor store on Cullen Boulevard near Calhoun Road sounded at about 2 a.m.

Although police found a hole in the roof and heard some noise coming from the attic, officers discovered the suspects were unable to flee the building before they arrived.

A K-9 unit and a police helicopter helped officers find the suspects. One suspect was arrested shortly after officers arrived. The other suspect was taken into custody three hours later after officers pulled him from the ceiling. Neither suspect was injured during the robbery or their arrest.

Police said the suspects will be charged with burglary. And, of course, they'll have a great story to tell their grandkids: "Did Grandpa ever tell you about the time he got stuck in the ceiling of a liquor store?"
