Last week, a Metro bus hit a woman and her daughter crossing the street near Courthouse Square; yesterday, another bus mowed down another pedestrian at Metro's trasit center in the Texas Medical Center.
The man stepped into the pedestrian crosswalk, "so the operator will be at fault," said Raequel Roberts, a spokeswoman for Metro. The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital, "but his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening," Roberts said.
The accident happened at 5:22 p.m. Roberts said the driver will undergo a drug test, which is routine after Metro accidents. It's the fourth Metro bus-pedestrian accident this year, according to blogHouston, which makes us wonder if Metro is trying to give us a subtle message about walking. We think there's great potential to turn these incidents into an advertising campaign to encourage people to ride Metro: After all, you'll note that the people inside the buses never get hit.
