Runaway sloth, two-headed turtle missing

The Houston area has an unrelenting issue with animals: they just keep turning up where they aren't supposed to.

The latest evidence of this vexing issue happened when a woman got her pet sloth — yes, you read that right — stuck in a tree, and it wouldn’t come down for days. The Magnolia resident became so desperate after Greezy the sloth was stuck in an 80-foot pine tree for four days that she called a Conroe tree company and CenterPoint Energy for help rescuing the pet.

OK, so the part about the sloth hanging out in a tree isn't the aspect we can't wrap our minds around. Sloth + tree = happy. We get it. But what the hell is a sloth doing in Magnolia?

Pam Sweeney, the owner, said she doesn't like to see animals in captivity.

"I love animals," Sweeney said. "I'm fascinated by them. ... I sometimes wonder if some [people] think I'm absolutely insane. But people know my name. They say, 'You're the lady with all the animals.' I think it's a positive thing."

In other bizarre animal news from the 'burbs, a two-headed turtle is missing from the Montgomery County Fair. So, uh, keep an eye out.
