At the box office, Houston

If we seem a little jaded about this week's selection, well, it's because we are. Go to the theater at your own risk.

Basic Instinct 2: Directed by Michael Caton-Jones; starring Sharon Stone, David Morrissey, David Thewlis. Novelist Catherine Tramell, Stone's character, is in trouble again, and this time, her psychiatrist Dr. Andrew Glass, Morrissey's character, has fallen into her fateful trap. We're assuming she seduces him and danger ensues. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Ice Age: The Meltdown: Directed by Carlos Saldanha; starring Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary. The Ice Age is ending, so the sloth, the mammoth and the saber-tooth tiger decide to warn all the other prehistoric creatures. We hear the mammoth meets a lady mammoth and sees some action this time around, too.

Slither: Directed by James Gunn; starring Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks, Michael Rooker. As one person said, Slither is Tremors meets Night of the Living Dead. When aliens take over a town, one townsman is infected and his ex has to keep him from ravaging the rest of the community. It's supposed to be scary. Eh.
