If you didn't understand why police were so worried about the guy who was pretending to be a cop earlier this year, consider the story of a pair of fake policemen who tried to kidnap a Best Buy assistant manager in Pasadena on Sunday.
It happened yesterday afternoon in the parking lot of the store. Two men wearing shirts that said "SWAT" and hats that said "State Police" pistol-whipped the assistant manager, then handcuffed him and tried to force him into a white Crown Victoria. A witness said the car didn't look official and that the manager was struggling — as you might imagine — but it's not clear whether any bystanders did anything to help. The fake cops apparently weren't too dedicated: When the assistant manager kept struggling, they took off. Police found out their Crown Vic was stolen, but the men are still on the loose.
