Doctor's blood alcohol test will be evidence

040406_gilliland.jpgTest results showing a Houston plastic surgeon had a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit the night he reportedly hit two visiting Englishwomen with his car will be admitted as evidence in his trial, KPRC reports. Lawyers for the doctor, Mark Gilliland, argued that the test results should not be admitted because they were collected hours after the accident that left Amanda Holland and Joanna Moore severely injured.

Prosecutors claim Gilliland drove his car onto a Sage Road sidewalk last spring and hit the two women; Gilliland's lawyers say it was the women's fault because they looked the wrong way before stepping out in front of the car. Holland and Moore were in town working on Animal Cops: Houston; Moore said she hasn't been able to work for more than a year because of her injuries. Gilliland's trial began last week.
