Wine with your Vegemite sandwich

For those who buy your wine at the local chain grocery store – not all Australian wines have a kangaroo on the label. Central Market is kicking off The Grand Wine and Food Affair with an "Aussie Wine Walkabout" Wednesday night, which will feature presentations on wine making, along with sampling of 20 different Australian wines.

The Grand Ambassador of the event is Sara Moulton (you Food Network addicts, and you know who you are, are well acquainted with her daily Sara’s Secrets cooking show). Other events during the five-day affair include: a trip to the Haak Vineyards & Winery (with wine serving on the shuttle bus to Santa Fe); a wine luncheon with actress Marilu Henner; a $225 black-tie six-course dinner; and a Sienna Sip & Stroll, with tastings from over 50 wineries. A portion of the money raised during The Grand Wine and Food Affair will fund a permanent scholarship at University of Houston’s Conrad N. Hilton College of Restaurant and Hotel Management.
