Chick-fil-A rolls out breakfast campaign

Houstonist loves fried chicken and breakfast — but we've never really thought about combining the two, outside the occasional order of chicken and waffles at The Breakfast Klub. We suspect we're not alone, and apparently Chick-fil-A feels the same way: The company is rolling out an unusual set of new billboards to encourage people to have chicken for breakfast.

The billboards are designed in conjunction with Chick-fil-A's "advertising partners" and depict the chain's "Eat Mor Chikin" cows commandeering advertisements for other morning-related things — for example, one billboard shows the cows taking over an ad for KHMX morning host Sam Malone. Ooh! Maybe in a related ad campaign, the cows could go to Malone's studio and break the news to him that he's not funny!

The customized billboards will be featured in Houston, Dallas, Orlando and Atlanta, while other Chick-fil-A markets will have a similar campaign showing the cows taking over ads for fake generic morning items like orange juice and coffee. Houstonist has always kinda liked the Chick-fil-A cows, and apparently so has everyone else: Since the cows began appearing in ads in 1995, the company's revenues have nearly quadrupled, to $1.9 billion from about $500 million. But one thing still bothers us: If the cows were smart enough to figure out how to climb onto billboards and paint messages, why can't they spell?
