Reagan High School Principal Robert Pambello has resigned amid allegations that he sexually harassed a teacher. Pambello is the same guy who got in trouble in late March for flying the Mexican flag outside the school, and some students say they think that's the real reason he left:
Reagan High School junior Jose Louis Cantu, 18, said rumors have been circulating around campus about Pambello's employment status since the flag incident. At the time, students said Pambello agreed to fly the flag to show support for the teens and to try to keep his predominantly Hispanic student body from walking out in protest of proposed immigration restrictions."There were rumors saying he quit, rumors saying he was forced out," Cantu said. "There's so many rumors going around the school."
HISD spokesman Terry Aboott said a district investigation confirmed an allegation that Pambello harassed a teacher by e-mailing offensive images. Pambello has been in charge at Reagan for less than a year; previously, he was principal at Stevenson Middle School for four years and principal of an Arizona school for 11. Houston Asssociation of School Administrators President Paul Olfield said he'd never heard a complaint against Pambello before the e-mail incident and added that Pambello didn't ask the HASA to represent him in the flag or e-mail cases.
