For sale: barely used mansion, backstory included

050506_sladehouse.jpgIn the market for a new house? Has Houstonist got a deal for you: a 6,000-square-foot on a prominent Memorial Park-area lot, complete with four bedrooms, a media room, travertine floors, a pool and spa and a high-tech security and entertainment system. It has killer landscaping and is spacious enough to hold all the $9,000 beds and $17,000 couches you could ever want. That's right: TSU President Priscilla Slade has put her pad up for sale.

The house is listed at $1.8 million, which real estate broker Hedley Karpas told the Chronicle is a little high, though he said the house is probably a "showplace." Decide for yourself: You can check out the real estate listing here. There's no word on why Slade is selling the house, where she's lived for five months, or where she plans to move. Though the TSU regents voted to fire her based on accusations that she spent about $650,000 in state money on personal expenses, Slade's firing will not be official until a hearing is held at which she can appeal the board's decision. Slade, who also faces a criminal investigation for her spending, has sued the university over her firing.

man, I'm gonna start posting responses here. Not a single response to this story or any other one on this page. I live in DC but am from Houston and plan on returning some day. Now, about this post.

Are you f-ing kidding me? 1.8 Mil? Thats peanuts for that place. granted I don't have 1.8, or will I ever, but a 900sq ft 2 bedroom home in a really bad neigborhood goes for 800k here. Crazy.
