Texans sign undrafted free agents

050506_norris.jpgThe Texans have been keeping their lawyers busy by releasing and signing players on subsequent days. After cutting 10 players on Wednesday, most notably starting fullback Moran Norris, the Houston Texans turned around and signed 10 undrafted free agents on Thursday with 7 of those on offense.

The newly minted Texans are DE Phillip Alexander, DE Jeff Charleston, DB John Walker, QB Matt Baker, G Mike Brisiel, G Kelvin Chaisson, FB Quadtrine Hill, RB Damien Rhodes, WR Richie Ross, and RB Chris Taylor.

One player Houstonist definitely will be rooting for is fullback Quadtrine Hill. Considered by some to be the best pass-catching fullback in this year’s draft, Hill caught 29 balls as a senior at the University of Miami. If Hill makes the roster with off-season acquisition FB Jameel Cook, that would make the fullback position a viable threat in the passing game. Not only would this be extremely beneficial to David Carr, but to Houstonist as well when we practice our passing game in EA’s Madden Football.
