Last week, a prisoner in a wheelchair escaped while being transferred. Houstonist is still scratching its head trying to figure out how a wheelchair bound prisoner can get away.
Apparently, Rafael Cruz was being transferred via Metro-lift to the Harris County Jail last Thursday, but the Metro driver who was driving Mr. Cruz didn’t know that he/she were supposed to wait for an HPD officer to accompany the passenger. So, the prisoner was dropped off at 1201 Commerce St., and hasn’t been seen since.
Authorities are asking anyone with details to help find Rafael Cruz to contact Crime Stoppers.
