Roger Clemens: Will he or won't he?

Clemens510.jpgYesterday, Houstonist was lucky enough to be just feet away from famed Astros pitcher Roger Clemens (not that he needs an introduction in this crowd). We were at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion for Musical Scores, a rewards program for Houston-area students. Clemens was the motivational speaker.

After his speech, Clemens asked students, "If I were to pitch this season, would you guys go to an Astros game?" After a chorus of positive replies from students, Clemens said, "Well my wife is trying to get me out of the house. I might have to find a way to get back to the field." Then he exited the stage.

Tease.

Is this Clemens' way of letting us know he is accepting the $20 million the Astros offered him to return to the mound this season? Last we heard, he was still mulling over the decision, keeping in mind his family's feelings about his career. According to the Houston Chronicle, Clemens has the blessing of his four sons (ages 9-19) to play his 23rd season in the major leagues. Unless Clemens was being flippant, his wife wouldn't object either.

Do you think Clemens will play this year?
