In middle school, we thought “Add It Up” was about math and “Blister in the Sun” was about sunburn. Ok, we were wrong, but we’ll still go sing-along with the Violent Femmes tonight.

Thursday

Crescent City boys Cowboy Mouth returns to Houston for a must-see show. Their live act has been called a “religious experience;” we can’t promise that, but we can promise fun.
8 p.m. at Fitzgerald’s | info

Friday
Yale graduate Mary Cutrufello learned at an early age how to take her nose out of the textbooks and rock. The whiskey-voiced singer/songwriter and guitarist comes back to her home state tonight.
9 p.m. at Rudyard’s | info

Saturday
The Weary Boys may look like characters from O Brother, Where Art Though, but they rock a little harder. The Austin bluegrass/rock band will be spending the daylight hours playing at Traders Village, but you can catch them indoors (with A/C) at the Continental.
11 p.m. at the Continental Club | tickets and info
