We're a bit jealous of people who get to wear shorts to work, which is why we've always liked to imagine that professional soccer players were forced to wear business casual off the field. So you can imagine our disappointment when we heard that Houston Dynamo players are able to sport the shorts look everywhere they go.
"In the heat, I mostly will wear shorts," says Houston Dynamo player Mike Chabala. "I like having different colors and being eclectic with different color shirts. You can do a lot with them. If you take some time, you can make them look nice."
According to The Houston Chronicle, Dynamo Soccer Players are sporting the season’s hottest style for men - shorts. All kinds of shorts are mentioned in the article including cargos, Bermuda shorts, and even capris. Designer Bill Reid claims that capris are gaining acceptance in the male wardrobe, and that shorts are now the male skirt.
"Something is happening with shorts right now," says men's fashion designer Billy Reid. "The short has become like a skirt for a girl. It's a more important item. There's really no right or wrong length or fit. It's sort of like anything goes."
Houstonist is not quite ready to start rockin’ the Capri look, but we do admit they're likely much better than pants in the summer heat. As for the idea of no right or wrong length, The New York Times weighs in and claims that shorter shorts, for now, is in.
