We all had a long holiday weekend, so take a break and catch some shows later this week:
Thursday
Norman, Okla.’s Starlight Mints offer an array of orchestra-pop, chock-full of interesting arrangements and odd musical instruments, without sacrificing good catchy tunes.
Music: "Inside of Me"

Since it’s a slow week for touring acts, this is a good time to catch the best homegrown pop-rock available. Local boys Tody Castillo and Ragged Hearts take the stage at the Continental tonight. Get there early, and you can sing-a-long with the cover band Beetle.
7 p.m. at the Continental Club | info
Friday
More great local original pop/rock tonight from Scattered Pages. Their own biography states that they are an “intellectual band, colorful and dynamic, teetering on the edge of absurdity.” See for yourself tonight, as they play with indi-pop/rock (with horns) Houston band Spain Colored Orange.
9 p.m. at Rudyard’s | info
When Lifehouse busted onto the scene over five years ago with their monster hit “Hanging by a Moment,” many weren’t sure if they’d be able to duplicate the success. They finally did this past year with “You and Me,” deciding to go tug at women’s hearts instead of plucking the electric guitar.

Sunday
If you’ve never seen Trent Reznor take command of a stage, you need to. Nine Inch Nails officially kick-off the summer at the Woodlands outdoor venue with Bahaus and TV on the Radio.
7 p.m. at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion | tickets and info
