Imagine hearing the batucada (Brazilian drums, if you didn't know) and feeling the rhythm. Close your eyes and you'll think you're standing in the middle of Carnival, but nope — you're right here in Houston, no flight necessary.
Join the Brazilian Arts Foundation and Grupo Capoeira Brasil to learn samba, samba-reggae and forro in an active and creative way. Experience the music, feel the beat and learn the rhythm to these three Brazilian dances. Finish your evening by watching a presentation of Capoeira — Brazilian martial arts — and Maculele — a Brazilian stick dance — by Grupo Capoeira Brasil.
The event, set for Saturday, will be the first in a series to celebrate Brazil and its culture. The cost is $10, and proceeds will benefit the Brazilian Arts Foundation. Houstonist will see you there ... be sure to wear your dancing shoes!
7 to 10 p.m. Saturday
