Metro bus hits cyclist

060106_bikexing.jpgSo we all know that Metro is trying to run down people who dare to walk instead of riding the bus, right? Well, now the agency has broadened its scope: It's also targeting bicyclists. The latest victim was a cyclist on the Beltway feeder road near Imperial Valley in Greenspoint, who was mowed down by a Metro bus last night.

The impact shattered the bus's windshield and sent the man flying into a grassy area. Other drivers saw the crash and immediately called 911. Eyewitness Carl Williams said, "Oh, he was real bad. He had a big old hole in the back of his head, bone coming out of his wrist and he was asking what happened."

Ouch. The man suffered serious head injuries and a broken arm — as you might have guessed — but KTRK reports he was "conscious and talking when crews rushed him to the hospital." The bus was on a maintenance run, so it was unoccupied; the bus driver was questioned, but KPRC reports that officials haven't said who was at fault.
