060106_bee2.jpgIs the Scripps National Spelling Bee ready for primetime television? Disney Executives seem to think so, and thus are furiously flexing their media muscle to make sure America tunes in to ABC for the championship rounds.

ESPN is all over the event, posting several stories on tonight's competition, and even going so far to predict the top eight to assist those who wish to gamble on the results.

According to Darren Rovell at ESPN, the best bet is Samir Sudhir Patel of Colleyville, Texas. Samir is being hailed as the star of the bee, and ESPN Radio is even cutting into their programs to bring you his early round spelling attempts.

If watching kids smarter than you spell words you can't pronounce, then tonight's competition is for you.

The final rounds will be on ABC tonight at 7pm.

Update: Samir just misspelled a word. Darren Rovell to be blamed.
