Houston women had the chance to get a chance to become a princess over the weekend. (Yes, that confused us a bit, too.) There were open casting calls for the reality show The Bachelor: Rome on Friday at the local ABC studios and on Sunday at Katy Mills Mall. We’re a little surprised the casting wasn’t held outside of some fancy schmancy store in the Galleria, considering the social status of the new Bachelor.
The star of the latest installment of the reality show is Prince Lorenzo Borghese. No, we didn’t stutter. We said Prince. He’s an American who just happens to be Italian royalty. Borghese is a U.S. citizen who lives in Manhattan. He was born in Milan, has lived in Rome and Paris, and moved to the States when he was just 5.
His grandmother, Princess Marcella Borghese, started a skin care line. Her grandson is a founder and president of a high-end body and skin-care line for pets. He’s also related to a former Pope.
The Prince is looking for true love, but anyone who knows the track record of the relationships that come from the show knows his chances aren’t that great. The last Bachelor, Dr. Travis Stork, and his chosen southern belle had broken up before the show even made it to TV. At least they got a free extended stay in Paris out of the deal.
