When you first here Marc Broussard sing “Home,” you’re surprised to find out that he’s a 24 year old white guy – he sounds like a much more seasoned blues singer. The Louisianna native is still touring on his Carencro CD.

Don’t let the name fool you: Murder By Death isn’t a new metal band; instead, their sound is a little Johnny Cash and Nick Cave, blended with rock and (according to their website) Hungarian folk dance music.

Thursday
Best known for their ’94 hit “Low,” Cracker has continued to churn out pleasurable albums without much help from radio. David Lowery and band moves beyond rock these days and dabbles in country and blues, too. You have got to check out their ode to their former record company (Virgin) “Ain’t Gonna Suck Itself.”

Friday
Anderson Fair is a small folk venue with a lot of history to it. The setting is very small and intimate. That’s why we were surprised that someone as accomplished as Nanci Griffith was coming for a two-night stint. The $115 per ticket show is a fund-raiser for a documentary on the bar.

Panic! At the Disco makes their second appearance this year at Warehouse Live, this time with OK Go. Both bands follow the pop/punk line, with a little emo thrown in.
