So the results of the GMAC Insurance driving test are in, and there's good news: Texas doesn't have the dumbest drivers in the country. Finally, a list where we're not the worst at something!
The test consisted of 20 questions based on state driver's license examinations where a score of 70 or higher is required to pass. According to the results, which cover all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, the three states most lacking in driving skills are Rhode Island, D.C. and (with a tie) New Jersey and Massachusetts. That might explain why people up there always seem to have road rage: With so many bad drivers in one place, no wonder they get pissy. We're happy to report that Texas is firmly in the middle of the batch, tied with Kentucky for the 24th dumbest drivers in America. Now that's something to be proud of.
One survey down, who knows how many more to go. Now if we could just tackle that weight thing ... and that traffic thing ... and the homeless thing ... well, anyway, keep driving relatively well and we're sure to look both ways before crossing the street.
