Unleash your inner slide show

Remember the good old days when the family would gather around to watch Uncle Ted and Aunt Debbie's vacation slides? The shag carpeting, the dark room, the projector beam, slide after slide after slide of plaid slacks and ill-fitting swimsuits ... we're getting a little nauseated just thinking about it.

But tonight there's a chance to purge yourself of all those bad slide-show memories at the Buffalo Bayou ArtPark's Slide Show Happy Hour. The series, set for the first and third Fridays of each month, starts this evening at BBAP on Center Street. Here's how they describe it:

BBAP, under the guiding hand of Elaine Bradford, is now hosting slide shows on the first and third Fridays of each month from 7:30pm to 9:30pm featuring your favorite Houston artists showing their work they see fit, BBAP artists outlining upcoming projects, and a motley collection of misfits showing whatever interests them.

So yeah, we can't guarantee that you won't see plaid slacks and ill-fitting swimsuits, but at least this time they'll be served up with a healthy dose of irony. According to BBAP (assuming we're right about the date), tonight's featured artists will be Nina Craig, Woody Golden and Ira Hill.
