People Meter on hold

060619-headphones.jpgBack in March, we told you about Arbitron’s new radio metering device, the Portable People Meter, and how Houston was going to be the first market to implement the device this summer. Those plans have been put on hold while Clear Channel, Arbitron’s largest client (duh!), waits to see proposals from other companies.

There are three other competitors, including one local company, Media Audit, Inc. The biggest disadvantage for the competitors is that their devices have not been mass-tested, like Arbitron’s has. Either way, it’s progress over the current hand-written diaries they use.

The latest radio ratings show that not much has changed over the past 6 months:

1. KMJQ (102.1 FM) Urban/R&B AC

2. KLTN (102.9 FM) Regional Mexican

3. KODA (99.1 FM) Adult Contemporary

4. KOVE (106.5 FM) Spanish Contemporary

5. KBXX (97.9 FM) Hip-Hop/R&B Hits

6. KRBE (104.1 FM) Top 40

7. KILT (100.3 FM) Country

8. KHJZ (95.7 FM) Smooth Jazz

9. KTBZ (94.5 FM) Alternative Rock

10. KHMX (96.5 FM) Hot Adult Contemporary
