BB gun-packing robbery suspect shot to death

062006_jitb.jpgSo here's a new twist on the old bank robbery story: Monday morning, police shot a suspected robber to death in a Jack in the Box restaurant, where she was apparently trying to get bags to put the stolen cash in. HPD said the woman robbed a Wells Fargo branch in the 2800 block of Hillcroft at about 9:30 a.m., then ran across the street to the Jack in the Box for bags. Police arrived and cornered the woman in the restaurant; when the cops came in, she pulled out what looked like a .45 caliber semiautomatic. Police asked her to drop the gun and she didn't, so they opened fire: One officer fired one shot and the other fired two.

The woman was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest, where she died. Authorities later learned her weapon was actually a BB gun — one that looked just like a .45 pistol. Oops. The woman's name and age has not yet been released.
