NYC’s The Walkmen bring their Bob Dylan, U2, and Pogues influences to the stage tonight, performing songs from their new CD that Billboard says takes the group from “rousing, sharply focused, late-night pleas and barroom romp”

Friday
It’s rare that a band can form in 2003 and win the “Best Band” at the Austin Music Awards the following year. What makes The Greencards blend of bluegrass and Americana so unique is that the band is comprised of Aussies and Brits.

Saturday
When you see Rob Thomas’ wardrobe (and hear his music) these days, you’ll forget that he’s the lead singer of the alt-rock bar band matchbox twenty. Soon he’ll be going back to his roots, like his opener Jewel is doing on her new CD (we want to forget “Intuition” from a couple of years ago)
7:30 p.m. at Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion | tickets and info
Seattle’s Band of Horses has drawn comparisons to The Shins (we waiting on pins and needles for their new CD), but more lush. Pitchfork gave their new CD Everything All The Time an 8.8 rating, which is pretty damn good.
Music: "The Funeral"
8 p.m. at Walter’s on Washington | tickets and info
