Thursday morning boom

062206_explosion.jpgGranted, it's not much of a story, but KPRC's news item today about a car catching fire and exploding overnight on the Katy Freeway is pretty cool — because they have video of the car blowing up. (Unfortunately, we can't link directly to the video, but you can watch it from the link to the article.)

The explosion happened at about 2:30 a.m. today on the Katy near Barker Cypress. Based on the video, the car — which was abandoned — was just sitting there, burning happily away, when boom, it exploded. It looked like quite a blast, and just as it happened, a car drove past — we have to wonder what that driver was thinking. According to Channel 2, investigators are trying to figure out how the fire started and who the car belongs to. No one was injured.
