Dancing with the dinosaurs

062306_mixers.jpgIf the Mixed Media Music Series at the MFAH a couple of weeks ago didn't quench your thirst for getting your groove on in the Museum Disrict, take heart: You have another chance tonight, and every Friday through Aug. 25, at the Houston Museum of Natural Science's Mixers, Elixirs & IMAX series.

The party starts at 6 p.m. in the museum's Grand Hall with a DJ from Opus, followed by the main attraction at 7: music from local vocal legend Yvonne Washington, dancing with the dinosaurs in the Hall of Paleontology, a cash bar and appetizers from Whole Foods Market. Included in the admission price is a ticket to one of the night's IMAX films: The Human Body at 6, Ocean Oasis at 7, Mystery of the Nile at 8, Roving Mars at 9 and Lions of the Kalahari at 10. We're sure that queasiness you get when watching the IMAX swoop down over the landscape will be all the better after a few drinks.
