Houston's Next Rock Star?

062806_singer.jpgThere’s nothing like a reality show to turn someone into a rock star. Or so single-moniker Houstonian Dilana is hoping.

The show, Rock Star: Supernova, is premiering online July 3, then will have a 90-minute premiere two days later on CBS. The prize up for grabs is an aspiring rock musician’s dream – fronting the band Supernova that includes legends Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Jason Newsted (Metallica), and Gilby Clark (Guns N’ Roses).

And if you’re already dismissing the show as another crap reality mess that will lead our Houston girl nowhere, you might be wrong. Season one of Rock Star found Canadian and former Elvis impersonator J.D. to be the new lead singer for INXS. The band has since had a couple of hits. Not bad for coming from a reality show.
