Houstonist Flickr Group Photo of the Day - A,A

A,A

The shot from flickr user and houstonist photo contributor slipshod snapshots.

This is an excellent detail shot of one of our favorite new pieces of art in town, Jim Sanborn's A,A outside the M.D. Anderson Memorial Library at UH. It's a metal scroll cut with text from novels, poems and prose in a variety of languages; by day, it's interesting to try to read them, and at night, a light inside the scroll projects the words across the library plaza and onto the face of the building itself. (If you check it out, be sure to walk into the library's lobby, where a related Sanborn piece hangs from the ceiling.)
