Since it's officially 350 degrees outside now, our thoughts have turned to the water — and though Houstonist is picky, we figure we could be happy in an enormous contemporary lakefront house in The Woodlands. The house is roughly the size of Delaware and features 22-foot ceilings in the living room, curving walls of glass overlooking Lake Woodlands and a variety of terraces and balconies with fancy stainless railings and travertine flooring.

Inside, there's a living area with a two-story glass wall, a kitchen with SieMatic cabinets and dual Sub-Zero fridges, and a foyer with a domed skylight (which kinda looks like something we've seen in mall architecture, but that's OK). The house also features several options for those days you don't want to be out on the lake: a movie theater, a gym, an indoor racquetball court, a spa and a 2,800-bottle wine cellar with a tasting/cigar area. We have no idea how you'd furnish a place like this, but we assume if you can afford to live here, you're not the type of person who worries about such things. Bedrooms: eight or nine. Bathrooms: 10 full and four half. Square feet: 24,586. Price: $6.95 million.
