Remembering the Season Ticket

Houstonist is a sucker for bad local commercials — we've been a fan of the Thunderbolt ad for as long as we can remember — and keeping that in mind, we are happy to bring you this 1990 ad for the Season Ticket sports bar. Cheesy sales pitch thinly disguised as phone conversation! Mysterious, oddly colored bar food! A waitress who can't deliver a line! 18-inch televisions! Yes, it's all here.

(If you check this out and can't wait to get over to the Season Ticket to enjoy what may be a chef salad (?) and watch the big game on a small TV, we're sorry: The bar is history; its location, 3303 Richmond Ave., is now the Velvet Melvin. The classy advertising apparently wasn't enough to keep the Season Ticket alive.)

Am I the only one who remembers the old ads for Colonial House apartment complex? Lease an apartment, and get a free TV and at the end it's a slow motion closeup of a bikini clad girl popping out of a pool?

I don't remember seeing that ad, but I wish I had — it sounds sexy. (Of course I'm talking about the free TV.)
